CBD and its benefits for athletes

When I first heard of CBD it was around 2014. I have to tell you, being in the fitness industry it sounded like it was just another weight-loss supplement. After doing my research, I came to discover that it was an abbreviation for the word Cannabidiol meaning cannabis. It’s described as being a non-psychoactive chemical compound found in marijuana and hemp. Since then, I have learned more about how CBD can help athletes with pain management. I remember many times in the past while training clients for athletic performance when they could have definitely taken advantage of using CBD prior to a game or tournament. It’s sometimes just the little additional alternatives that can give the athlete more ability to perform at their best.

The potential benefits are abundant, especially when it comes to treating and reducing inflammation. CBD can help athletes with recovery by reducing inflammation and aiding in muscle relaxation. It’s an anti-inflammatory that works by reducing pro-inflammatory markers in the body. I know of runners, baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, football players, and many other athletes who have been able to benefit from it. I have used it myself on various areas of my body and it has really helped with my recovery when it was needed due to inflammation from training.

CBD Benefits

Over the past years, I have continued to educate myself more on this natural product. I have noticed that one of the largest benefits thought to accompany CBD is its ability to aid in relief or alleviate pain. All athletes can agree, that at some point you are going to experience some pain. This is how it works. CBD interacts directly with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in the body, eliminating free radicals, restoring balance, and reducing inflammation. For athletes who participate in intense exercise or high-impact movements, CBD can be a great natural option for relief. Remember if you do decide to try CBD, always consult with your physician prior to taking any topical products to make sure you don’t have any adverse effects.

Always strive to be great, and take care of each other.
